Cataclysm Pre-Raid Restoration Gear List

Welcome to the Cataclysm Pre-Raid Gear List for Resto Druids!

This Gear List is now out of date! If you're looking for Mists of Pandaria gear, please go to the MoP Resto Pre-Raid Gear List instead!

This list is intended to inform Resto Druids on what leather caster gear is available from quests, factions, BoE items, crafted items, Justice and Valor points and both normal and heroic Dungeons.

If you're looking for gear from raids, I would like to recommend Red Cow Rise's list, which follows a similar format to this one.

If you're looking for Balance gear, why not check out my list of Pre-Raid Gear for Moonkins.

As we approach level 85, we can't just jump straight into heroics and raids - we have to gear up from normal dungeons to be able to do heroics, then have the best possible gear before we jump into raiding. This guide is designed to help at each of those stages.  It contains more items than most other lists around but I feel it helps to have all the information available to make comparisons easier.

I recommend using an in-game comparison addon like RatingBuster to help you make quick decisions on upgrades as you level, as well as using gear lists such as this one to plan your gear upgrades.

To give a general idea on which items might be better than others, each item has been assigned a score based on a weighting for each stat.

For comparison's sake I've assumed each gem slot has been equipped with a Brilliant Inferno Ruby, although two slots in your gear will most likely contain "blue" gems for the meta activation.

The formula used was:
    Score = int*1.5 + gems*40*1.5 + spellpower*1.3 + haste*1.2 + spirit*1.2 + mastery + crit

Don't forget you can always reforge items to make stats more desirable, so the scores have a certain amount of buffering around them. You can find more information on stats and gems on the Resto Cheat Sheet.

Valor Points are available from daily random heroics and raids. Unlike previous tiers, Tier 13 Deep Earth sets will not be available with Valor Points but will be purchased with tokens which will drop in the Dragon Soul raid.

The new raid, Dragon Soul, will have three difficulty levels - Heroic, Normal and Looking For Raid (LFR). The LFR items will have item levels 384 - 390 and will include Tier 13 gear. This post at MMO-Champion has a full list of Dragon Soul gear of all difficulties.

All item data was compiled from WowHead.
