Hi! Long time, no see eh?

Now that the craziness that was July has finished and the release date for Pandaria is closing fast, I thought it was time to get back into Warcrafty things!

So, what have I been up to lately?

Spamtastic
Firstly, I got Navispammed! I had enjoyed seeing all of Navimie's other posts about visiting all sorts of bloggy people so I was rather excited when she wanted to come visit me! My toons are kind of spread over several servers now, but she came to visit Aoifen and my lovely adopted guild, Vitare.

A new Home
I've decided to make Aefa my Horde Loremaster, or at least see the quests in zones that are very different for Horde. My Horde guild on Nagrand is pretty much deserted most of the time (come baaack!) so I made the tough decision to move Aefa and Leesah over to Saurfang, to join my sister-in-law's guild. They are still raiding and are quite active on off nights as well, although I'm back to feeling like the new kid in school. The name Leesah was taken on the new server so I had to change it - I didn't think of adding an accented character to the name until it was too late so she's now Lysah. I don't think she's too happy with the new name.

Mogginess
I've finally got Aoifen's mog set in a state I more-or-less like. If you're interested in what she's wearing now, it's:

Head: Nordrassil Headguard
Shoulders: Puregrove Spaulders
Chest: Malfurion's Robe of Conquest
Back: Netherwane Cloak
Hands: Glovelettes of Opening
Waist: Gryphon Master's Belt
Legs can't be seen with a robe!
Feet: Luring Footpads
Main hand (mace): Hammer of the Thorium Brotherhood
Off hand: Globe of Moonlight

Lysah, on the other hand, could use some Mogging love. I'd really love a full set of T5 for her - she has the head and shoulders, but I'd love the chestpiece, legs and gloves. Anyone for a go at Kael'thas? Perhaps a bit of SSC?

What's next?
I'm planning on creating new pre-raid gear lists for Mists of Pandaria before the expansion arrives, based on the PTR items. They're looking pretty nice so far - lots of Asian-inspired names at least. I haven't been part of the beta at all so I'm not sure what the new items look like!

I'm also planning to get back into updating this blog a bit more often, although that really depends on time which is rather precious at the moment! Why so little time? Well, it's mostly down to this little guy:

It Is Done

It took me quite a long time, but finally, I'm there. Aoifen is a Loremaster at last. I know it's nowhere near as much of a pain as it would have been do to it when achievements were new, but for a super-casual player, it sure feels like an achievement!

The Lich King doesn't agree with me...

Actually, Arthas, I beg to differ.

Apart from The Loremaster and all that it entails, there was a bunch of other fun stuff I picked up along the way...

• To All The Squirrels I've Loved Before and To All The Squirrels Who Shared My Life were tidied away last night after Icecrown was done. I've got one annoying Larva to get to finished off Pest Control too.
• You can't go past Howling Fjord without picking up Friend or Fowl?
• I put several species of game animal on the endangered list for members of the Nesingwary clan for Hemet Nesingwary: The Collected Quests
• I defeated all manner of Champions for The First Rule of Ring of Blood is You Don't Talk About Ring of Blood.
• Got Surveying the Damage completely unintentionally. 
• I swear that I've never done Uldaman or Maraudon at the right level, but I did them for Classic Dungeonmaster. Also, the Blackrock Mountain 5-mans get me soooo lost.
• Picked up the 3000 Quests Completed one a while ago which brings the title "The Seeker". Current Quests completed statistic: 4282 (I assume this includes dailies).

I also have an absolute LOAD of gear in my bags because my bank and void storage is full... I only kept the pretty stuff, honest! 

I'm planning on doing a few posts about my favourite zones and some moggy type posts too, but that might have to wait until I've organised my bags a little *wince*.

Anyway, I'm happy that's finished! :)

And yes. the last mob I killed dropped the recipe for Bad Clams!

Bucket List update - May

Hello! I'm not sure if anyone's still reading but... I'm still here, still playing here and there. I've mostly been working very hard on a certain other project, but that's another story.

I was reminded recently that with the Pandaria beta stepping up, time is running out to get Aoifen's Loremaster done before the release. This post is to take stock of my Bucket List and see how I'm progressing.

1. Loremaster Aoifen

This layout is looking a little less daunting than it was at the start of the year!

I have to say I'm really enjoying completing some of the zones I hadn't quested in or only partially quested in before. The epic feel of the whole Alliance-versus-Horde battlezone of Ashenvale-Stonetalon-Southern Barrens is very well put together. I haven't done much of these zones from the Horde side, but the Alliance quests are quite good fun in an "I'm-a go kill me some ORCS" way.

The other zone I particularly liked was Felwood. The quests are so completely different than they were before the Shattering, and many of them are very funny. I won't spoil any but if you get a chance, go have some fun!

2. Fix Aoifen's mog set
This is still a work in progress, but the image below is what Aoifen's current out-and-about set looks like. I mostly picked up these bits and pieces from quests around the place. I'm not sure about the legs and I still haven't found a mace that I like, but it's better than it was.

3. Gear up Aefa and do some Magey LFR
I haven't really made a lot of progress here - Aefa's still stuck in base-heroic-level gear and I have trouble convincing myself to go do them on her. I'll get there... hopefully before Pandaria time.

4. Guardian of Cenarius
Aoifen now has the Guardian of Cenarius title, and it was much easier than I had anticipated. Here's my post on the subject.

A Story for the Sproutling

This story was inspired by Big Bear Butt's writing challenge. Check his post for all the other offerings!

The calf gurgled and cooed as Leesah wiped the remnants of the juicy berries from around his mouth. She picked him up as she stood, kissed him on the top of his furry head and put him down on the packed earth floor of the house, smiling as he ran outside.

She walked over to the door and leaned against the wooden frame, shielding her eyes from the low sun casting its light across the Mulgore plain. A few children of the village were running around after a dog, trying to pull its tail.

Not for the first time, Leesah wished that her mate Melof could have been here to see how much their son had grown. It was already his first birthday and he was getting so tall - he would surely grow into a strong bull like his father had been. Leesah felt grief building up in her throat again. She glanced at one wall of the house where Melof's polearm hung, several charms hanging from the slender shaft, light winking on the keen blade.

She hadn't been up to Thunder Bluff in a while, but she had heard the rumours - Deathwing lay slain, the Twilight Cult scattered. She swallowed back tears and stood straighter, comforted that her mate's death at the assault on the Bastion had not been in vain, and had been avenged.

There was no use in dwelling on the past, though. Soon, she would have to leave the peace of Bloodhoof Village and rejoin her fellow Druids abroad. She could feel the urge to travel in her bones, the nature magic stirring, ready to heal and nurture the regenerating forests of Hyjal. She would have to leave her calf behind for a little while, but he would be in safe hands with the elders of the village.

As the sun dipped below the line of mountains to the west, one of the Elder bulls came around lighting the torches of the village. She nodded a greeting to him as she walked out across the grass. She called, "Come, little one!"

The calf ran over to her, reaching upwards and saying, "Num num num?"

Leesah laughed as she swung him up over her head and down again. "No, silly, you already had num nums. It's time for a bath and sleepy time." She carried him back inside their home and out to the hidden alcove that served as a bathroom.

Outside, stars began to appear in the evening sky and cast their silver light over the plains.

Yes, it's my Sproutling's first birthday today. It seems like such a long time ago that he was born, but at the same time it feels like just the other day! He's not quite at the running stage, but Tauren calves learn to walk a lot faster than human ones. He does ask me for num nums quite a lot, though.

Like Leesah, I've gone back to work and left Sproutling with the "elders". He's surrounded by an adoring fan club every day so I don't feel too bad about leaving him.

Don't worry, Mr Ang is still here... but he stopped playing Wow just before Sproutling was born so it fit well with the story for his Tauren to have died. I'm sure he won't mind me taking the liberty :)

Guardian of Cenarius

I'm a believer of things being in their rightful place. Tonight I'm happy, because one of my Druids finally has the Guardian of Cenarius title - achieved for being exalted with Cenarion Circle and Cenarion Expedition.

I expected that the real grind would be in the Cenarion Circle in Silithus, but in fact it was the other way around. Allow me to share my path towards the achievement.

Cenarion Circle

The first thing I made sure of was that I had done all the quests that can give reputation. There are quests with CC rep in a lot more zones than just Silithus - a full list can be found on Wowhead:

• Western Plaguelands
• Southern Barrens
• Un'Goro Crater
• Desolace
• Silithus

After the quests were done I was already into revered. The rest of the way to exalted can be finished in a few different ways:

• Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) raid - I soloed this once as a Moonkin and had no trouble up to the final boss, and gathered quite a lot of reputation for doing it. The final boss is a bit trickier on your own, and I ended up running out of time due to server maintanance!
• Hand in [Encrypted Twilight Texts]. These drop from Twilight Cultists and can be handed in in batches of 10 to an NPC in Cenarion Hold.
• Kill Twilight Cultists. These guys have several encampments around Silithus and respawn quite quickly. They also give 10 reputation per kill, so if Encrypted Texts aren't dropping at least you're still gaining rep.
• Wowhead also says that the PvP objective in Silithus, turning in Silithyst around the zone and turning it in to your faction NPC also gives reputation. Carrying Silithyst gives you a movement penalty when mounted up, so I doubt this is a very efficient method of collecting rep.

In all, the revered - exalted grind only took me a few hours.

Cenarion Expedition

Important Note: The quest to hand in Unidentified Plant Parts is only available until honoured. If you get any [Uncatalogued Species], wait until after you are honoured to turn them in to maximise your gains after honoured. I didn't realise this until after it was too late - all my Plant Parts were then useless and I added a large chunk of grind to the end of my journey. RTFM, Ang.

1. Hand in your Unidentified Plant Parts, then your Uncataloged Species. You can either buy the plant parts from the AH, or kill mobs in Zangarmarsh or Steamvaults, Slave Pens and Underbog to get them.
2. Once you get to Honoured, make sure you do all the available quests for CE rep.  The Cenarion Expedition is based in Zangarmarsh, but there are also quests giving reputation in Hellfire Peninsula, Terrokar Forest and Blades Edge Mountains in Outlands, and also the quests from D.E.H.T.A. in Borean Tundra, Northrend.
3. Run Steamvaults, Slave Pens and Underbog. Do the quests inside the instances too - some of them give CE reputation.

Sadly, it is no longer possible to get the [Orders from Lady Vashj] quest item required to turn in Coilfang Armaments. Wowhead says it was removed due to an oversight in patch 4.3 - why they haven't fixed it again I have no idea. I guess the 65 Armaments I collected from my Steamvaults runs will have to be sold on, or passed to another toon in the hope it might be fixed one day!

In all, it took a few extra days to get to exalted with Cenarion Expedition. I ran a combination of heroic Coilfang instances about 7 or 8 times and got a few nice transmog pieces out of it as well.
